A native of Clarksburg, WV, Mr. Alex joined the General Electric Company in 1949; he served in the US Army, and rejoined GE in 1952. For four years he held design engineering and marketing assignments with the Industrial Control Division in Schenectady, NY; he became District Manager of the Industrial Sales Division in Cleveland in 1965, and Regional Manager of Industrial Sales in Chicago in 1970. In 1975 he was appointed Manager of General Industry Sales covering 20 states from the Midwest to Alaska, and in 1981 became Manager, Central Sales, with a 525 million dollar operation that included a 25 state region and the worldwide mining industry including Europe, Africa, South America, and Australia. Products included the application and sales of motors, generators, controls, computer-controlled drive systems, transformers, switchgear, and gas and steam turbines. Key markets were the metals, paper, automotive, and mining industries. Mr. Alex is a member of the Board of Governors of the Manufacturing Division of the American Mining Congress. In 1988 he retired from General Electric, and now lives in Hinsdale, Illinois.
