Richard L. McCormick received his BSME from WVU in 1981 and did graduate studies here in material design before moving to Princeton to become vice president of engineering at Conn-Weld Industries. In 1994 he was promoted to executive vice president of Conn-Weld, and in 1999, he was appointed as director of that company, a post he still holds. Over that time period, McCormick managed Conn-Weld from a startup company to a $35 million operation. In 1999 he also became the managing director for the China operations of Taggart Global, LLC, an international engineering and construction company with expertise in coal preparation plant and material handling systems design. In 2000, Taggart had no presence in China. Between 2001 and 2004, McCormick's team built 18 Greenfield plants in China, generating a revenue stream of $89 million in 2004. From 2004 to present, he has served as CEO of Taggart Global.
McCormick has also developed and managed projects in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He holds numerous patents involving vibrating screen designs and has published several technical articles on coal processing technology. McCormick is a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of several technical and community service organizations.
